Mobibi

Mobibi are sculptures and objects, mostly made of PET, wire and bamboo – “mobile images”, in contrast to my stably standing Stabibi.

“Stolperstein Hirn” (“Stumbling Block Brain”, detail in the cover image) was made in 1998, after a diary note from 29 March 1995, in which I compare humanity's hunger for knowledge to a cat biting its own tail and spinning in a circle (see also “Identity – homeobox plus”). Here, the human bites into the DNA “tail” and, through the loss of identity, plunges down over its own brain.

The wire mesh doesn't just carry the content of the statement – it also represents cell division.
