Linie 6
We are all stardust – today's science says so, just as the ancient philosophers once did.
A long history of evolution has shaped us, through survival strategies and selection, sensing and perceiving with every glance and every sound. I compress this long road from the Big Bang to atoms, molecules and planets into my images in a poetic, playful way – focused on what is close to me: I arbitrarily choose tram line 6 from my everyday life and bring it into direct relation with the entire cosmos.
Impressions captured on video camera, I translate into a “line in/line out” painting: at times the visual bustle becomes still images, at times sounds, noises or exchanges of words. In 1995 I was still working in the style of abstract expressionism; in my more figurative painting today, the questions remain the same: what is the origin of energy? I believe it can only have been interacting love that led to duality and to evolution – from the macrocosm, via line 6, down to the microcosm of my brushstroke.
